Why are obsolete electronics so hazardous?

End-of-life-electronics can contain lead, mercury, chromium, cadmium, beryllium, nickel, zinc, and brominated flame retardants

Can’t I donate my used computer?

Yes, but only a small percentage of used electronic equipment is suitable for donation. Much of what is given to charities is not suitable for redeployment and burdens the charity with the cost of disposal. Most not-for-profit groups are very careful about the types of equipment they accept.

The operating system must be removed unless a software license accompanies the donated equipment.

Donation can put at risk the security of the personal and financial information stored on your hard drives.

Are there costs involved?

We do charge a small fee to recycle your obsolete electronics. We offer various levels of service and pricing to our customers. We can accommodate customers who have the ability to deliver their old equipment to us, but can also arrange to pick-up from your location. EOLE Midwest can tailor our services to meet your needs and budget!

What about the sensitive information on my hard drive?

Hard drives can be physically destroyed as part of our recycling process or scrubbed clean using software that conforms to US Department of Defense cleaning standard DoD 5220.22-m. EOLE can provide its customers with a detailed Certificate of Data Destruction to ensure you that your data has been permanently eliminated.
